Charlie Louvin Plans Hall of Fame Appearance

Charlie Louvin will provide a brief performance at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's Ford Theater on July 8, the weekend he turns 80. Louvin will also be interviewed and premiere a music video for "Ira," a song featured on his new self-titled album featuring guest appearances by numerous country and alternative music artists. The video was shot at a recent in-store performance at Shangri-La Records in Memphis, Tenn., with additional footage shot in Louvin's hometown of Manchester, Tenn. He wrote the song as a tribute to his late brother, Ira Louvin, who was killed in an automobile accident in 1965. Known for their distinctive harmonies, the Louvin Brothers were a major influence on many artists, including Emmylou Harris and the late Gram Parsons. The Louvin Brothers were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
